Big Ghost Ltd is the production moniker of anonymous rap blogger and beatmaker Big Ghost, who moved from blogging into beat-making during the mid-2010s. Having built an audience through comedy reviews and articles through the 2010s, Big Ghost used their platform to pivot towards music production in 2015: alongside Griselda founders Westside Gunn and Conway (under the alias Hall & Nash) they issued album Griselda Ghost in September 2015. Moulding beats around the ethos of New York’s golden age of rap, Big Ghost’s production style put nostalgic and monastic samples over steady boom-bap drum lines, complementing the grimy tales and foot-forward braggadocio of their collaborators. In the early 2020s, Big Ghost entered a period of relentless collaborative work, issuing nineteen full-length albums between 2020 and 2023.
