Chenoa was born Maria Laura in Mar de Plata, Argentina on June 25, 1975. A move to Mallorca, Spain during childhood brought her within reach of the Spanish TV show Operacion Triunfo in 2001. Her success on the show led to her debut record release, Chenoa, in April 2002. Though many reality TV stars' careers are short-lived, Chenoa generated enough hit singles and buzz to pave the way for subsequent releases Mis Canciones Favoritas and Soy Mujer. Dedicated touring throughout Europe and Latin America won Chenoa quite an audience. Her 2006 release, Nada Es Igual, went double platinum within a year. ~ Evan C. Gutierrez
