Detroit street rapper FMB DZ has described his music as “gangsta boogie.” It’s hard, but it makes you want to dance.
• FMB stands for Fast Money Boyz, the rapper’s crew.
• The rapper rocked his first stages in the fifth grade. After he crushed a school talent show, administrators invited him to write and perform an original song at graduation.
• With his 2017 debut mixtape, I Ain’t Gonna Lie, FMB DZ began making his name outside of Detroit. Before the year was out, he’d dropped two more tapes: Washington DZ and The Gift.
• FMB DZ teamed up with Oakland rhymer Philthy Rich for the joint 2018 mixtape Can’t Funk Broke.
• In 2020, FMB DZ released The Gift 3, featuring two collaborations with fellow Detroit riser Sada Baby, a close friend.
