The Nashville rap duo Grits are legends in the field of Christian hip-hop. • Coffee and Bonafide met in 1991 while touring as dancers for the popular Christian rap/rock group DC Talk. They formed Grits—“Grammatical Revolution in the Spirit”—in 1995. • They signed to Gotee Records and released their debut album, Mental Releases, in 1995. On the LP, they tackle topics like global suffering and child abuse. • After nine albums with Gotee, Grits started their own label, Revolution Art, in 2007. • Following 2010’s Quarantine Grits took a seven-year break before returning with Saints & Sinners in 2017. • Over the years, Grits have won six Gospel Music Association (GMA) Dove Awards, including Best Rap/Hip-Hop Recorded Song for “Hittin’ Curves” (2005), “Believe” (2004), “The All Fall Down” (2000), and “Plagiarism” (1999).
