R&B vocalist and songwriter India Shawn's music is both vivid and vulnerable, reflecting on the joys and sorrows of life through unfiltered perspectives and songs that blend old-school production with cool West Coast pop sensibilities. Shawn's background as a songwriter for other artists helped her find her way through the music industry when it came time to share work of her own. She expanded her 2021 EP Before We Go into a proper debut full-length for 2022's Before We Go (Deeper), enlisting the help of peers and collaborators like Anderson .Paak, Ambre, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Her activity since then includes the intoxicating 2025 ballads "Kill Switch" and "Cotton Candy Blvd," two of her collaborations with producer D'Mile.
