Formed in 2011 in Phoenix, Arizona, Jared & the Mill are a six-piece indie folk outfit led by singer/songwriter Jared Kolesar. Along with bandmates Michael Carter, Larry Gast III, Chuck Morriss III, Josh Morin, and Gabe Hall-Rodrigues, Kolesar developed a lush acoustic-based sound that set big-hearted Lumineers-style folk-rock against the wide, dusty backdrop of their native Southwest. After a couple years of regional touring, they delivered their 2013 debut album, Western Expansion. They continued to tour heavily, sharing stages around the country with acts like Zac Brown Band, Horse Feathers, and the Killers. They followed up in 2015 with an EP called Life We Chose. ~ Timothy Monger
