Jim White is an Australian drummer, producer, and songwriter best known as co-founder of the brilliant instrumental trio Dirty Three and for working with Nick Cave, Will Oldham, Cat Power, and many others. A highly versatile musician, his playing is alternately restrained and delicate or intense and sporadic; he easily adapts to country and folk, noise rock, and free improvisation. He is highly regarded by countless indie rock and experimental musicians, and is a go-to session player, particularly in Chicago and New York, where he is based. Among his many collaborative projects are Xylouris White, a duo he formed in 2013 with Greek laouto player George Xylouris, and an improvisatory 2020 project with guitarist Marisa Anderson. White's first solo album, All Hits: Memories, appeared in 2024, as did Swallowtail, with Anderson. In 2025 he joined former Saints/Laughing Clowns guitarist and Ed Keupper to re-record and release a collection of tunes from across the guitarist's career.
