J-pop boy band JO1 was formed in 2019 through the TV talent competition Produce 101 Japan, during which viewers chose the group’s 11 members out of 101 contestants.
∙ Their debut EP, 2020’s PROTOSTAR(通常盤)—featuring the lead track, “Infinity”—reached No. 1 on both Japan’s Oricon chart and the Billboard Japan Hot 100.
∙ Billboard Japan ranked JO1 at No. 18 on its 2020 Mid-Year Top Artists list.
∙ The Stargazer (Special Edition) EP, featuring the lead track “Oh-Eh-Oh,” topped Japan’s Oricon chart and the Billboard Japan Hot 100, giving the group two consecutive No. 1 hits.
∙ Star of JO1 : JO1 x NO1 Battle, a Japanese TV series in which the members of JO1 compete with one another in various challenges, debuted in 2020.
