Donald Mattern, aka Junior Vasquez, is a celebrated DJ and producer who was an integral part of the New York City club scene in the 1990s. He wielded great power as New York's most popular remixer and house DJ for his club, the Sound Factory, where crowds of hipsters thronged and took their record-buying cues from his playlist. His studio work attracted high-profile artists including Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Justin Timberlake, and scores of others; having a track remixed by Vasquez is still considered a commercial boon. Though the Sound Factory has long been closed, Vasquez continued to produce, remix, and spin into the new millennium.
