Malcolm Todd's warm songs combine a fluid alternative R&B sound with the emotional outlook of an indie singer/songwriter. Todd began making music at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and released his first EP, Demos Before Prom, in 2022. A second EP, Shower Shoes, followed in 2023, and singles such as "Art House" and especially the viral break-up song "Roommates" garnered attention online. In 2024, he released two more EPs, which were then combined and expanded into the mixtape Sweet Boy. Showcasing his playful and yearning experimental R&B-pop, his official debut album, simply titled Malcolm Todd, landed near the midpoint of the Billboard 200 list upon its release in 2025.
