Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. All of my earliest musical memories come from car rides with my mom, her love for music unmatched. She’d play it loud, singing at the top of her lungs. It was then I realized I wanted to create something that could have that same impact on others.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Talk Talk, Laughing Stock The Innocence Mission, Hello I Feel the Same Van Morrison, Astral Weeks These three records have held an inordinate amount of influence and inspiration for me.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Meet the Kid” A spirited Texas bar room stomp with a touch of dusty gospel choir. It’s a knock-down-drag-out brawl between the Kid and his own idea of a mediocre/complacent future self. Step right up and shake the Kid’s hand if you want to do more with your life.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Playing a show in Tokyo, Japan. Went to get some dinner. Met a fan along the way who joined me. Spent an hour typing questions and answers back and forth in google translate and having a great conversation across the language barrier.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? To properly tour with Mountain Time would be a dream. Mostly just making more records though. The record is the artifact.
