With a bouncy, upbeat style that leans on punchy beats and a hybrid of R&B and rap vocals, UK-bred DJ and producer Nathan Dawe carries the torch of classic garage hitmakers.
• At school, Dawe studied IT and German. He says the IT probably helps his music, since he works with computers.
• Dawe started DJing at nine years old and played every birthday party, school dance, and wedding he could.
• His 2018 debut single, “Cheatin’,” pairs a sample of Deborah Cox’s “It’s Over Now” with a jumping house beat and a pitch-shifted hook.
• With “Flowers,” a 2019 collaboration with Jaykae, Dawe earned his first Top 20 UK hit. He followed that with the infectious dance-pop groove of “Lighter,” featuring rapper KSI.
