About Nicolas Jaar
Experimental Chilean American electronic producer and singer Nicolas Jaar blends samples and live instrumentation to create his unclassifiable—at times political—music.
• Jaar divided his childhood between New York City and Chile. His father is the renowned installation artist and architect Alfredo Jaar.
• Before he was famous, Jaar played in bands and busked with his accordion on the streets of New York.
• Combining house and jazz with Jaar’s eerie vocals, his breakout 2010 song “Mi Mujer” achieved tens of millions of streams.
• Jaar released his acclaimed debut album, 2011’s Space Is Only Noise, during his time at Brown University.
• Physical copies of Jaar’s sonically varied, politically charged 2016 sophomore LP, Sirens, came packaged with a quarter. The coin was for scratching enclosed lottery paper to reveal the album artwork.
• Jaar and guitarist Dave Harrington formed the duo DARKSIDE and released the album Psychic in 2013. The LP went Top 10 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
• In 2020, Jaar released two albums under his own name (Cenizas and Telas), plus one, 2017 - 2019, under the alias Against All Logic.
