Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I started listening to jazz when I was about 7 years old. Starting with the UK dixieland revivalists Kenny Ball, then diverting via Herb Alpert and finally raiding my brothers record collection.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Dave Grusin, The Very Best of Dave Grusin Herb Alpert, The Essential Herb Alpert The Beatles, The Beatles 1967-1970 (The Blue Album) The Beatles were a hugh influence on me growing up, especially the melodys and bass lines. Herb Alpert was one of the first artists I tried to copy on the trumpet. When I first heard Dave Grusin it was a whole fresh new jazz sound.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “A Simple Truth” This was the first composed song for the album Pavane. It helped set the the style and concept for the whole project.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I've had many memorable moments and met many people through the years. I find it impossible to single out a few moments from either performing or composing.
