About Ron Trent
Although he debuted with the techno masterpiece "Altered States" (1990), Ron Trent is known more for a beatific house sound that is as atmospheric as it is richly musical, one informed not only by soul and disco, but also by jazz-funk, dub, and electro, among other styles. The Chicago native's work as a producer, multi-instrumentalist, DJ, and label operator has permeated underground dance music on a global scale. He has released dozens of singles and EPs -- Prescription: Word, Sound & Power, collecting 12" highlights from his praised Prescription label, scratches the surface -- along with several mix CDs and albums. His full-lengths include Primitive Arts (1999) and Dance Floor Boogie Delites (2011), and extend to the 2020s with What Do the Stars Say to You (2022) and Lift Off (2025), LPs that cross genres, generations, and continents.
