Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. As a kid I used to stay up past my bedtime on Saturday nights, in my bunk-bed with a little boombox, secretly listening to the only electronic radio show in NY—Solid State w/ Liquid Todd. I fell in love with Underworld, Crystal Method, and many more.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bonobo, Black Sands Radiohead, Amnesiac Underworld, Everything, Everything (Live) Live Each one of them shaped me. "Everything" is the best of Underworld—performed live! Amnesiac was the soundtrack of college—mystery, hope, confusion. And Black Sands is just stunning—part of a broad renaissance in electronic music the past 15 years.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Lighthouse” This song was channelled. I don't know how else to say it. My intention was to write a song to sing at a friend's wedding. One minute, it was an empty session, and the next, it was done. Like a beautiful possession. I still cry every time I hear it.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Shooting the music video for Echoes. There were nearly 30 on the crew. The scope was mind-boggling. I kept thinking "is this really for me?" And the content was so tender and emotional, it felt like a meditation retreat, as if everyone was in prayer.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Most of my career is still on the bucket list! I want to arrange a live show with a choir. I want to sing my toplines live at some huge clubs. And there's a lot more music I need to write with other people! Connection—that's what I'm really here for.
