Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I first started being interested in writing music for video games thanks to the Super Nintendo game “Mario Paint”. The rudimentary music editor was just the right blend of flexible and fun for an 8 year old to get hooked.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? John Coltrane, A Love Supreme Kenny Wheeler, Angel Song The Beatles, Revolver (2022 Mix) Angel Song is one of the best sounding, evocative sets of instrumental improvised music. A Love Supreme’s spiritual sincerity is transcendent. Revolver pushed the boundaries of studio-as-an-instrument has a timelessness I always come back to.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Closure” Closure is open, wondrous, and cinematic. It has a blend of many of the instruments I identify with in my music (saxophone, clarinet, strings, guitars) and contains a tasteful alto saxophone solo, my primary instrumental voice.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Composing the soundtrack for Signs of the Sojourner (Echodog Games) was a gift. The environment and narrative pulled me in such that it felt like making a very personal album, touching on themes and life-truths near and dear to my heart.
