Marco Hietala is a renowned Finnish heavy metal bassist, vocalist, and songwriter, internationally recognized for his work with the power metal band Tarot and symphonic metal giants Nightwish, where he served as bassist and male vocalist from 2001 to 2021. A prolific collaborator and producer, Hietala has contributed to projects by Delain, Amorphis, Ayreon, and others. He is also a member of Finnish symphonic metal cover supergroup Northern Kings. Hietala issued his first solo LP, the cinematic, prog-leaning Mustan Sydämen Rovio, in 2019, with the like-minded Roses from the Deep appearing in 2025.
