Vico da Sporo isn’t just a proficient house music producer with years of experience. The Ladysmith, South Africa artist—born Siphamandla Dlamini—also has a good ear for vocalists. On his 2015 debut album, Music, Hearts and Places, his lush productions were complemented by singers such as Mli, Landiwe Zulu, and Tumi. As a veteran DJ and founder of the Soulgiftedmusic imprint, Vico da Sparo remains dedicated to pushing his sound into the future. While he didn’t neglect his deep house roots on his 2020 record, Bandlase, he augmented his sound with flourishes of amapiano, especially on the popular singles “Umuhle Ntombi” and “Luthando.”
