Rita's discovery is still considered a major event in Israel's TV history. During a talk show on the country's only channel in the mid-‘80s, a young singer was introduced for the first time—Rita Yahan Farouz. She was an overnight success: her high-pitched singing, which was influenced by her Persian heritage, was unlike anything heard before. With her producer, and later, husband, Rami Kleinstein, she had a string of hit albums in which she revived the songs of her Iranian childhood. Achieving diva status over the years as a singer, actress and author, Rita is considered a national treasure.
