No discussion about early boy bands would be complete without an inclusion of New Edition and their offshoot Bell Biv DeVoe. New Editions members Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ronnie DeVoe capitalized on their first group's success while forging their own successful career as BBD, pioneering the new jack swing movement. Their debut Poison went four times platinum and showcased a new, more experimental take on R&B. While their later albums never reached the same success, they still tour and have reunited with New Editions on a few occasions.
