It's a quality he inherited from the French Elvis himself, Johnny Hallyday, who similarly couched his tenderness in a tough-guy veneer. But while Lapointe's lyrics channel the grit and grace of Leonard Cohen, his musical muscle betrays a lifetime of imbibing AC/DC.
