Born in Los Angeles but based in NYC, Brandon Avery Perlman—aka Delroy Edwards—operates on electronic music’s lo-fi side. He imbues his productions with euphoric synth lines and tape hiss, as on the shimmering “Live and Let Live”. He’s also adept at creating tension, with percolating beats building to a powerful climax on cuts like “4 Club Use Only” and “Love Goes on and On”. Elsewhere, the likes of “Change The World”—and its nods to early-’90s house in its freestyle-inflected rhythmic turns—demonstrate Edwards’ keen grasp on the both past and future of the dance floor.
