Florida-born rapper Caleb Gordon infuses his bars with his Christian faith, dazzling with a blend of melodically driven gospels and verbal gymnastics. The MC, born in 2000, broke through in 2022 with “Evidence,” which found him proclaiming devotionals over an acoustic guitar sample that fits nicely with the Southern gospel rap and pain-infused hip-hop prevalent in the Sunshine State. On 2024’s “Rivers of Zion,” he flips a story from the Bible into a treatise on liberty, rapping, “We shall be free under the mighty tree/Inside Your wings, that's where I find my peace.” Here and elsewhere, Gordon uses rap to showcase how in his book, faith equals freedom.
