Though he aspired to be an architect in his youth, Luis Eduardo Aute started his polymath career building imaginary vistas for films. He worked on the Elizabeth Taylor epic Cleopatra, among others, before he developed his gifts as a songwriter and—once he overcame his shyness—a revered Latin folk performer. Aute’s lyrics reflected his insights as a celebrated poet and writer. His warm, humble tones always adapted to the music, whether it’s a gentle acoustic guitar note, lush orchestral swell or bluesy rock jam.
