Decades after their final recordings, Romani duo Lole y Manuel continue to make their influence felt both within their native Spain and beyond. Guitarist Manuel Molina Jiménez (who died in 2015) and singer Dolores Montoya Rodríguez were genuine innovators in the field of flamenco, imbuing the traditional form with new sounds from around the globe—and, through the poetry of their lyricism, infusing it with palpable heart and soul. Their music would also be used in films such as Kill Bill: Volume 2 and they feature prominently in a 2018 documentary about flamenco legend Camarón de la Isla.
