Formed by the Mújica brothers, Mexican rock group Tex Tex take their name from their hometown of Texcoco. The band released their debut album, Un Toque Mágico, in 1987 and soon developed a reputation for hard-hitting, ironic lyrics that didn't shy away from urban Mexico's social problems—all while delivering their message to a driving beat. Influenced by rhythm and blues, Mexican corridos and Latin rhythms, their signature sound is direct and energetic. Their heavy use of group vocals makes for great sing-along choruses—and reinforces that sense of brotherhood.
