Former child musical prodigy Leslie "Junior" Tucker was once dubbed "The Jamaican Michael Jackson" after scoring a No. 1 island hit in the '70s when he was 7 years old. An often-covered hit by The Persuaders became a signature tune for Tucker in the early '80s, as his Jamaican hits piled up. He soon became one of the best Jamaican dancehall crooners—his silky, light, romantic falsetto and deceptively big vocal range galvanized Caribbean audiences. After his '96 True Confession album, Tucker became a born-again Christian and has recorded a number of reggae-gospel albums.
