The Boardwalk

Last night I hit the boardwalk with my friends We broke the rules and then we left No goodbyes had to be made Friends have things that they just don't say Broken windows, dents in cars Meeting girls, getting kicked out of bars We went home with no regrets And then we said we'll do it again When it's said and done Will I be the one To speak up and deal with my emotions Will they miss me too Or do they care to lose My company Or is it just me This morning, I woke up Zero texts and zero calls It's not like we're drifting apart But then again it feels like we are I miss the days when we were young Responsibility was shunned We grew up without a care Now when we're together we're just not there When it's time to leave Will we keep in touch Or will we throw away Everything we knew Why can't things Be like they were Before life came and threw us for a loop I don't understand Where this is coming from It came out of nowhere and now it won't be gone I just can't believe This is happening Cause I won't get the chance To be young again Tonight I'm gonna hit the boardwalk with my friends We're gonna break the rules and do it again No time to apologize Cause we're gonna have the time of our lives Sure life's coming at us fast But tonight we're gonna make it last Tonight, the night is young Tonight, the world is ours
