Building a Fort

Life is complicated, things don't go as planned

People act in ways that I don't understand

It all came crashing down through no fault of my own

Think it's time I build a fort all by myself alone

I tried to fit in and they told me I could not

The outside world is overrated by a lot

I might as well just run and hide until I'm fully grown

Here I go, I'll build a fort all by myself alone

And I won't answer when Mom calls me from upstairs

I'll use that jar or that gnarly extension chord

Make a drawbridge with that dry eraser board

I'll use whatever this dumb junk room hands me

Man, it sucks that there is no one who really understands me

I'll be the only person who's allowed inside

And if you try to enter, you will be denied

There's no outsiders here, I'll make that ruling known

Now that I have built a fort all by myself alone

I'm not answering your email and I'm throwing out my phone
