Dust to Dust

Dust settles down where dreams once soared

Fragments of light on a broken chord

A face in the mirror, worn and thin

Reflects the ghost I'm buried in

Falling through time, I'm chasing smoke

Clinging to shadows, afraid I'll choke

On echoes of what I used to know

Fading fast, letting go

Dust to dust, it's all the same

Another face, another name

In circles tight, I lose my place

A drift of stars, a fall from grace

Once was a fire, now just a trace

Lost in the maze of empty space

A whisper that calls from far away

In a voice I knew but can't obey

These hands reach out, but touch the cold

Fragments, whispers, stories told

Of heights I climbed, of depths I fell

Bound to the silence, under its spell

Dust to dust, it all fades down

Through veils of gray, through tainted ground

I'm just a breath, a line erased

A star that burned, a dream misplaced

And as I fade into the blur

The world spins on, a quiet slur
