By this point, music wasn't just a hobby no more
It was becoming who I was
And for the first time in my life
I made a decision to really learn it
Not just by ear
Not just by trial and error
For real
So I decided to go to college
And honestly, the first day humbled me in the best way possible
Within hours, I learned twenty things I had been doing wrong
Probably more
Recording mistakes, mixing mistakes, engineer mistakes
Stuff I thought I already understood
And the crazy part is, I wasn't embarrassed
I was excited
Happy, actually
Because now I could finally see the difference
Between just doing music and mastering the craft
For the first time, I felt like I was getting access to some real game
And around that same time, I finally moved to Concord
A quiet little suburb compared to where I came from
Cleaner streets, different peace, different energy
And the reason I chose Concord?
'Cause that's where the college was at
Looking back, that move represented more than just a new apartment
It was the first time I physically removed
Myself from the environment that I came from
Even though I just changed locations
I hadn't fully changed my habits yet
I still brung the streets with me
Still had the weight from the ghetto
Still hustling while trying to build
Something legitimate at the same time
The dude life followed me everywhere
So while I was meeting people at school
Networking, learning engineering
I was also moving how I knew how to move
Trying to survive, trying to level up
Trying to balance two worlds that never really fit together
In the middle of all that, I built my studio
Right in my living room of my apartment
That became the headquarters
Speakers, computers, microphone, wires stretched across the floor
Nothing fancy yet, but the sound?
Now that was changing
Every class I took, every lesson I learned
You could hear the improvement immediately
Cleaner vocals, better mixing, sharper recordings
I could finally hear the growth in myself
So naturally, I hit my homies up
"Pull up"
And once they heard the difference, the word started spreading
More people started coming through
Artists, friends, people bringing other people
The sessions picked up
The clients picked up
And little by little, the vision I had
In my head started feeling possible
I still wasn't the big studio yet
But I wasn't a garage kid anymore either
I was evolving
Building something for real from scratch
One session at a time
One lesson at a time
One risk at a time
And for the first time, I could actually see
The future opening up right in front of me
