This New Day

I never thought I'd live to see this day arrive

I thought I'd be six feet underground

But God has shined His light despite my darkened night

And said man, "You ain't lost, you is found"

Day by day I will be by your side

I will carry you home

Day by day there is new forgiveness

And newer mercies up ahead

Tomorrow is a day, a day, a day away

Tomorrow isn't here with us yet

And yesterday has come and gone. Ain't coming' back

No, yesterday won't rise from the dead

But this new day is a day like nothin' else

Shining' bright like the sun

This new day, full of hope and happiness

God's grace for everyone

I'll cast all my cares at His feet

'Cause I ain't got no business holding onto things

When He says they are dead in defeat

And yes, He cares for the broken-hearted

Crying out for relief
