I found a pregnant deer

Scything in the forest with a beating fetus inside

And when she came too near

She looked at me as though I was the forceps or the speculum

I found a severed wing

Trampled on the pavement while its amputee sang to me

I found an angel wing

Baking on the pavement, an albino Venus in heat

I heard a song stung blue

And underneath my stirring I can hear it flutter and coo
