There's a place I know that's just right down the road

Tucked deep in the Carolina hills

There's some people I know, got that sweet southern soul

The kind that make you want to stay

I'm Virginia born, daddy raised me proud

But in the Blue Ridge Valley there hangs a cloud

Had my heart ripped out, thrown all about

Was lost alone, nowhere to go

And it's so hard to hang around this old town

Dodging reds and blues, trying to stay out the news
