I'm Better Now

I know I'm not a wicked person but sometimes I can be

I don't have enough time for "eventually"

I hope my kids are nothing like me, someone with poise and continuity

There's nothing left of me to measure anymore

But I'm better now

The smoke in my head

Is clearing out

And it's no thanks to you

Prepared for the worst but expecting disaster

If I had any thoughts they'd come too late after

And if my honesty is mocked as too authentic

My staircase wit won't do the trick

I'd spill my guts if I had any to begin with
