Letra

[Rap]
Queen Victoria had many beautiful dogs throughout her long life.
But Dash was especially dear to her heart.
He was given to her in 1833 when she was a teenager.
And they soon became inseparable.
She often dressed him in a red jacket and blue trousers.
And for Christmas, she gave him three rubber balls,
and two pieces of gingerbread decorated with holly and candle.
[Chorus]
It's nice to be Queen Victoria's dog,
Yes, it's nice to be Dash.
It's nice to be Queen Victoria's dog.
Yes, it's nice to be Dash.
Say it, girls,
of one thing you can be sure of.
It's nice to be Queen Victoria's dog.
It's nice to be Dash.
[Rap]
When Dash died in 1843, years after becoming queen,
she buried him at Adelaide Cottage in the gardens of Windsor Castle.
And he wrote on the gravestone:
"Here lies Dash, the favorite spaniel of Her Majesty Queen Victoria,
by whose will this gravestone was erected.
He died on December 20, 1840, at the age of nine.
There was no selfishness in his affection. There was no malice
in his cheerfulness.
There was no deceit in his loyalty.
You who read, if you wish to be loved in life and mourning in death, follow
Dash's example".
[Rap]
The queen kept a personal diary, and Dash is often mentioned.
When she met Prince Albert of Saxony, Dash played a very special role.
In the couple's union at their first meeting, Victoria was struck by Albert's appearance,
specially his height and blue eyes. However, it was his behavior with that
the most influenced her opinion of him.
Victoria wrote in her diary how Albert "played and cuddled" Dash.
Thus, with Dash's seal of canine approval, Albert's fate was sealed. Shortly
thereafter, the queen married, and the rest is history!
