Birds of sorrow fly over my head But I won't let them nest in my bed I can't help but wonder in my insecurities It's a challenge everyday sometimes, takes some maturity And what I'm worried about, what's preying on my mind These petty competitions, bring me down time to time Birds of sorrow fly over my head But I won't let them nest in my bed You can't compare apples to oranges Just like you can't tell, if what a heart is feelin' is fair You can't avoid the people who don't wish you well Just know it ain' about you, it's their own emotional cell Birds of sorrow fly over my head But I won't let them nest in my bed Can't stop the birds a flying Can't stop a person's lying I can't control where they go, or what they do I only have myself to minding Take my hand when I'm a crying Keep those birds from coming on through Birds of sorrow fly over my head But I won't let them nest in my bed
