I was lost in a world of no return
A world that was dangerous, sad and without hope
A world that was separated from the rest of the world That only held so much pain and depression
(You know I couldn't get no help, I was reaching out, I felt that I did everything right...)
A world where the abuse lasted for so long,
that after awhile I couldn't understand why I stayed.... to keep being his footstool.
(You know I couldn't get no help, I was reaching out, I felt that I did everything right...)
I used to have hope, faith, and dreams
That one day, I could leave this abuse and start fresh again Without being scared to take back my life and live again.
(I felt that I did everything right, but nobody heard my cry until it was too late...)
I was helpless against the world
That wasn't meant for me to be in
A world that kept telling me
I was there as his punching bag
The world that I was living in
Showed me that no police, judge, or DA Could stop this abuse
(I had females come up to me... yeah well you know... if that was me I would've left, why you didn’t leave?)
The world of no return
had a death wish just for me
(Yeah well you know...if that was me I would've left, why you didn’t leave?? Like I told them this is how....)
It was a world where either you survive the abuse Or you die by the hands of the abuser.
In the world of no return,
There is a high price to pay.
(It’s all part of your self esteem because that abuser can make you feel so low that you lose everything....)
I did survive my abuse,
but there are many that didn't.
The price I'm paying is a 19 to life sentence For defending myself
against my abuser.
(Look at the signs, be aware of what he’s doing, whether it’s emotional, physical...)
