Paroles

Growth for growth's sake is a cancerous doctrine
Everything touched by man grows so very stale
On his own sits the vainglorious sovereign
Yearning for a fitting end to his tale
To solely serve oneself
Is to rule over none
You had it all
In the palm of your hand
Yet by holding on too tightly
You ended up smothering your land
Bored of your people
You toyed with their lives
Slowly plucking their wings
Like worthless flies
Did you think yourself a god?
Your kind has called me by many a name
Choose your delusion, it's all the same
I am one and all
I gave you life eternal and made you king
To see how far you could fly on borrowed wings
Now you beg for mercy
For your misery to cease
But this is your kingdom come
Forever, where you shall be
Chewed more than you could eat
Your only god is greed
A lord of lifeless lands is no lord at all
Long may he reign in atrophy
Rotting in his endless majesty
Were you the one truly pulling the strings?
Or were you merely a pawn?
Everyone is a slave to something
For the curse of life, is the curse of want
Bled to the bone
In planetary ecocide
Countless worlds collapsed
Feeding the monster, you designed
Thus left with nothing else
Your leech had to feast upon itself
You sentenced your kin to death
When you became their saviour
Now all you have left
Is a microcosm of human failure
From wilderness to wasteland
None are quite like those made by your hand
And for that you shall repent
In the never-ending nightmare of an endless end
On his own sits the vainglorious sovereign
Yearning for a fitting end to his tale
Long may he reign in atrophy
Rotting in his endless majesty
