Between the Shadow and the Sun

We’re living in the borderline

A place between the now and yet to come

And one day we will see in full what now is hidden

And so we wait

 

And while we journey on

Pilgrims on our way back home

We pray to face the light the dark, each hidden part

And lean upon our aching need for God

 

We hide, we show ourselves

We dance between the shadow and the sun

And as we hold the tension of the two extremes

Oh truth, lead us through it all

 

The valley days, the mountain highs

The joy, the grief, the change of time

Let us learn to hold the hand of God

In every part of life

As He holds us in the shadow and the sun

God in the morning time

God in the fading light

God from beginning to the end

 

God in the wilderness

God in the whispered prayer

God in the turning of the tide

 

God of the new born breath

God in the face of death

God who is making sense of life

God of the days to come

God over all that’s gone

God through it all
