Paroles

Now, after all of this major success with Soul Man, here comes now an
Awareness that now we've got to be not only diversified in their
Physical presentation with their shows, with interesting kind of
Content, we also have to follow up hit records with hit records, on
An artist as big as Sam & Dave. So we started recording songs with
Purpose. On the CD and on the album that you'll hear, with the
Classics, there are some songs that were hits, but they were created
For purposes to serve not only for radio, but for the stage
Performances as well. So when you listen to songs such as "Wrap It
Up, I'll Take It". "Wrap It Up, I'll Take It" was a song that we
Were extremely excited about, but we had a purpose for creating the
Song. We were trying to find something that they could use, they
Being Sam & Dave, could use in a seasonal way. And so we were
Thinking about Christmas, we were thinking about some during the
Holidays, and on their tours they could bring out a song out of their
Repertoire that talked about the Christmas spirit, but also talked
About it in a way that merit that their image and their attitudes
Through their music. "Wrap It Up, I'll Take It". "I've been watching
You for days now baby. I just love your sexy ways now baby. I know
My loving would never stop now baby. Put your loving in my box. Wrap
It up, I'll take it." That was the lyrical content of it. But if you
Listen to this music on the instrumental version, you'll hear a kind
Of energy and a kind of vibrancy that married that kind of seasonal
Energy that feel, that would feel real, real good. That was a
Signature rhythm sound that was part of the identity that we use on
All of the Sam & Dave records. A rhythm on the low end in a musical
Way, but also a kind of horn excitement that also signatured
Them as well. So "Wrap It Up, I'll Take It" was recorded
For that reason, and it became a hit for them, one that
We were very, very excited about and quite pleased with
And so in our thinking, we were thinking that way
