Whose bloody calls still rake the air
With stuttered swathes of cackling rhythm,
And snapping jaws that haunt the stairs.
Birds of prey that mark the sky,
And sew the starlit sheath of night!
Whose pinion feathers swallow light,
And razor talons terrorize!
