In the Middle There

It was a dark, depressing party 'til she came into the room She wore a neon colored vinyl skirt that brightened up my view There was a mutual attraction of a woman and a man But it was me who had the growing situation on his hands So I just stood there in the middle there, yeah aw yeah She moved a little closer, I felt my blood begin to rise I saw that she was coming over by that look inside her eyes So I just stood there in the middle there, yeah aw I just stood there in the middle there I just stood there in the middle wondering where I should put my hands To cover up the rising thoughts of times to come, my future plans And all the while she stood there staring, bearing down on everything While I just stood there wondering what she could see Now what's the mess?
