My bad habits came back

this time to celebrate

the special occasion that’s our day to day.

If time has told me one thing, that this dream was all bullshit.

I called it back then that all I would need

was some paper and pens,

my hands and guitar strings.

Warm heart and two eyes

looking at me and they’re smiling.

I work for myself and a roof overhead.

Things that I don’t abhor,

things that don’t make me sick.

What turns my stomach is the fear of this ever changing.

My health will go to hell

and I’ll wind up in bed thinking,

“These were the days that really meant something”

Cause today I have

all I ever wanted.
