On this haunted beach

I leave my dreams behind

Bury them deep down in the sand

I was washed up on the shore

My dreams lay scattered around me

Too wild to carry with me into foreign land

Peace lies sweetly somewhere out of reach

I dreamed that I had wings again last night

So I shake myself awake

Some the waves will break

I'm seeing all the signs

for the road that lies before me

Yet I'm navigating solely by what's left behind

Walked all of these miles

Only memories beside me

Smothered by their company yet breathing through their smiles

Fireworks exploding

I shiver at the sound

It lingers in the sky

like a picture in the sand

smoothly washed away by a wave of night

And turning my gaze down

I think back to a beach

where something still lies sweetly out of reach

buried deep into the ground
