Running Down a Song

I'm a long way from home just running down a song

I'm hellbent to write and its putting up a fight

The days they fly by, the dark takes it's own sweet time

Cheap whiskey burns but the fire is how you learn

Some folks call it paying dues

I call it having nothing to lose but time

You can waste it chasing guilt and pride

Or you can face it head on, and sing your song until you die

You gotta try and walk the line for the man up in the sky

When the angel down below's the only one fighting for your soul

Now the blood from your veins feels the love and the pain
