Lavender

49 days was all

That it took to descend into the fall

Stubborn sick tightened its grip

Before long you were gone

And my god it came quick

All I could do was bring lavender

I won't leave you alone in the dirt

Till the blood leaves your body

For all that it's worth

I won't live another day on this earth

Till the lavender's gone and it no longer hurts

Seven weeks if I can recall

As I swam in a sea of alcohol

Heatwave raged on into the night

But I can't say I noticed

As you lost your light

All I could do was bring lavender

We lost you today in the noise and haste

And I'm in the fray with my grief

Left to face
