Everywhere you go

Everywhere you at night in the city

You’re looking at another place

A former home, a face you know that time won’t recognize

sees through different eyes

All the color’s gone away

from streets of houses painted gray

Cuz that’s what the markets say

In a couple of years they’ll wash away

Into the crashing sea

But it’s easy enough for me

To get by for another week in these

desperate days

Everywhere you ride

The sun shines a rare reminder

Of autumns past

And wet leaves in the grass

Your favorite film, played just down the street your friends would meet you for a drink

The attic never sleeps

But the theater’s gone away

Replaced by houses painted gray

Cuz that’s what the markets say

In a few more years they’ll wash away

Into the crashing sea

But it’s easy enough for me

To get by for another week and be left alone

But if you gather all your old friends, and make time to let them know

Their memories can chase the fright the away

from desperate days
