So we packed our caravan and we hit the road
Gonna travel round the country gonna take it slow
We been talking bout doing this a long long time
Now the kids are all grown up and got their own lives
So we waved to the neighbours and we said goodbye
We're leaving home
So we crossed the Murray River up to old Taree
Then a couple months in Queensland and the Territory
Relaxing back with a drink at the end of the day
Tomorrow we will cross the border into WA
We were lost for words all we did was smile
When we got to the edge and saw Lake Argyle
And it felt like home
We were lost for words all we did was smile
We were swimming in the waters of Lake Argyle
And it felt like home
We went back to see the kids for a little while
Caught up on all the news and met our first grandchild
But on the morning of the day we were to leave again
The doctor called up on the phone and this is what he said
He said I'm sorry little lady but the tests were right
They say your hubby he been living on borrowed time
And I'm sorry
So I'm lying here lucid in this hospital bed
I'm refusing medication that just messes my head
And the only way I know to keep on top of the pain
Is to picture being back at the Lake again
So I close my eyes and visualise
Being back in the Kimberley with my dear wife
And I'm heading home
I'm heading home
I'm heading home
I'm heading home
I'm headed home
I'm headed home
So we packed our caravan and we hit the road
